Government spokesperson Nasser Judeh Tuesday said His Majesty King Abdullah II works around the clock to check on every citizen’s concerns and issues within the Jordanian loyal family. It was the King’s directives as well as the efforts of all government departments and our good brothers in Iraq that together helped to secure the release of the Jordanian driver Mahmmud Saidat who held hostage in Iraq for more than two months, Judeh said in a statement to Jordan television. “It is only a few hours and Saidat will be back home with his family after over two months of suffering,” he said. Because of the sensitive nature of this issue it is much better not to detail the procedures that have led to the release of the driver, Judeh said. He emphasized that the Jordanian government with all its civilian and military department would never compromise Jordan’s principled stand. “We will save no efforts in using our relations and contacts with the influential bodies to rescue and protect the life of every Jordanian citizen,” Judeh said. “The fact that this issue was kept away from the media did not mean at all that there have been no intensive efforts” to free the Jordanian hostage and thank God our efforts were fruitful,” Judah said.
