PSM Divestment Conference: Summary

24Feb06

PSM (Palestine Solidarity Movement) Fifth Annual Divestment Conferece has taken place from February 17-19 in Washington DC, US attracting more than four hundred student and community activists from ninety different university and organization from across the US.

Messages of solidarity were sent via KABOBfest as part of real time update on the conference including audio, video, still images and commentary.

As reported by KABOBfest, a JDL member was removed from the conference after attempting to disrupt the opening panel. The JDL, founded by terrorist Meir Kahane, violated Georgtown University’s policy by registering two tables under a false organizational name: “Palestinians are People Too“. The PSM though, made the decision of allowing them to stay.

Witnesses from KABOBfest, said JDL protesters and Israel alliances from Georgetown University failed to provoke conference attendees. Protesters flooded the activists with infamous chants, some of which included insults to Prophet Mohammed (blessings and peace be upon him) :

At one point, the man pictured above, in a pathetic attempt to be funny, started chanting, “We love cartoons, we love cartoons…”

Other chants included, “You’re all animals,” “You’re ugly,” “Terrorists,” “Savages,” “Mohammed was a pedophile,” “We hate Mohammed,” “Mohammed was a pig,” “Mohammed liked pigs” (who is this Mohammed guy?).

Jewish protesters went as far as misleading the media by chanting “Itbakh Al-Yahood”, later explained as Arabic for “Death to Jews”.

Furthermore, Palestinian activists faced smear campaign lead by actor Lee Kaplan. Will Youmans of KABOBfest responded to his lies.

In the closing session, PSM Conference concluded by declaring the 30th of March as National Day of Divestment Action.

Fifth Annual Divestment Conference has seen success on more than one level thanks to Georgetown University’s unyeilding solid efforts.
